How do I add a new administrator account to my store?

Creating additional administrators within Volusion is simple. Please note that in order to be able to fully create and assign privileges to administrations, users will need to be logged into their Volusion store with the primary administrator (super admin) account. This will typically be the administrator account that was created within Volusion when the store was originally opened.

Getting Started:

To create a new administrator account, select the Customers tab and click on the Administrators link in the menu tool bar. (Volusion 5 ) Users can then do the following:

  • Click Add. (Volusion 5 )
  • Set the Access Key field to Administrator.
  • Set the new administrator's e-mail address in the E-Mail Address field.
  • Define a password for the new administrator.
  • Fill out any of the other fields as needed (such as First Name, Last Name, Address, etc). (Volusion 5 )
  • Click Save Changes to create the new account.

Assigning Privileges:

Once the new account for the administrator is created, the exact privileges the administrator will have access too needs to be defined by the store's primary administror. To do so, follow these steps:

  • Within the Customers > Administators portion of the Volusion Admin Page, click on the ID number of the newly created administrator account to edit it.
  • Now that the new admin account is created, a new link will appear immediately above the E-mail Address field called "Edit Cust# Access Rules". (Volusion 5 )
  • Clicking that link will allow users to select specific tables to which the new administrator will have access. If privileges are not assigned to the new administrator, they will be unable to do anything more than log into the administration area.
  • To allow the new administrator access to the entire administration area, select the IsSuperAdmin checkbox under the Special Privileges section. (Volusion 5 )

Summary:

That's it! Once these steps are complete, a newly created administrator account will be ready for use within the Volusion store. Please remember that in order to completely create and assign access rights to new admin accounts, the account must be created by the store's primary administrator. Once the account is created by the primary admin, it can then have its access rights assigned.
