How can I create a shipping label?
Last Updated 10/30/2009

Users can generate shipping labels for their store orders from their Volusion Admin Page, clicking on the Orders tab, clicking the Overview link in the blue menu bar and then clicking the ID of the order they wish to generate a shipping label for. (Volusion 5 )

Within the Order's details page, users will want to click on the appropriate shipping service link to the right of the customer information (Volusion 5 )

Configuring Label Settings:

Once users have chosen which label to generate, they will be presented with the label configuration page. Here, users can configure order weight, dimensions and other shipping settings. Note that if not already present, users will need to enter a phone number for both the shipping origin and destination settings near the top of this page. Failure to do so will result in an error being generated when the user attempts to obtain a label. (Volusion 5 )

In this case, users typically receive and error stating:

"Errororeply org.xml.sax.SAXPParseExeption:Datatype Erro: In element "Pagenumber": value" does not match retular expression facet "/X)(10,16. ".

Users can manually enter phone numbers on this page however, users can also configure their shipping origin phone number to appear on all shipping labels within their store. Users can do this by clicking on the Settings tab, clicking the Shipping (Volusion 5 ) link in the gray menu bar and enter their phone number within the Shipping Wizard. (Volusion 5 )

When the settings for the shipping label have been configured, click the Get Label button at the bottom of the page. (Volusion 5 ) The shipping label configuration page will reload and will present a link marked, View/Print Label at the top of the page.

Click on this link to view the shipping label in the browser. (Volusion 5 ) The label can then be printed by selecting print from the brower's file menu. When finished, click the browser's back button to return to the shipping label configuration page. Click on the "Back to Order" near the top of the page to return to the Volusion store's order details page. (Volusion 5 )

Additional Information:

Please note that label printing is only supported with Volusion V5. The label printing features are only supported with FedEx, USPS and DHL carriers. Additionally, this label printing feature does not feature any allotment for postage. With the exception of using Volusion's integration with Endicia for USPS-based orders, users will have to generate or purchase postage for their orders separate from Volusion's label printing feature.

To remove a generated label/tracking number from an order, simply click the X icon located next to the View/Print Label link in the shipping configuration page. (Volusion 5 )

Please note for merchants generating FedEx labels to be printed on thermal label printers, be sure to check the Thermap Printer option next to the Get Label button on the shipping label configuration page before generating the label. (Volusion 5 )
